On 1 and 2 October 2011, an introduction workshop of the new Contract Work Teacher Training Module was organized in Hanoi.

The module is part of the Active Teaching and Learning (ATL) Teacher Training Package and follows on the module on Learning Stations which also introduces some experiential education concepts and methods.

The workshop was facilitated by the lead author of the module, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tuyet Nga from the Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences (VNIES). Together with her, 22 methodology core group members from 5 teacher training institutes explored the concepts of contract work and differentiated learning. The participants designed contract and task sheets, and discussed the strengths and weaknesses of the method.

Prof. Nga and the participants concluded that, even though applying this method is challenging in the education context of Vietnam, every teacher can use the principles of this approach in her or his teaching practice.

At the end of the workshop, a consultation session on the outline of the final module in the ATL Teacher Training Package - Assessment and Evaluation - took place. The consultation will inform the first complete draft of the module which will be introduced to the methodology core group during the final week of October 2011.
