Global Action Week for Education for All is a worldwide annual campaign of the Global Campaign for Education, a coalition of NGOs and Teachers’ Unions, to raise awareness on the importance of Education for All and to mobilize political and financial support for the achievement of the Education for All goals.

In 2013, over 120 countries around the world have been organizing activities during the Global Action Week for Education for All, on this years' theme, ‘Every Child Needs a Teacher’, highlighting the critical role of well-trained teachers to ensure that all learners have the chance to realize their right to education.

In Viet Nam, the partnership for Education for All is led by the Ministry of Education and Training and supported by ActionAid, ChildFund, the Viet Nam Coalition for Education for All, Oxfam, Plan International, Room to Read, Save the Children, the Centre for Education and Development, the Flemish Association for Development Cooperation and Technical Assistance (VVOB), World Vision, ILO, UNESCO and UNICEF.

The Global Action Week was launched on April 23 with a national event at the Temple of Chu Van An in Hai Duong Province. Key messages for the campaign in Viet Nam are ‘Every Child has the right to good teachers’ and ‘Let’s develop dedicated and capable teachers for all learners’. At the event, Vice Minister Nguyen Vinh Hien shared the priorities of the Ministry of Education and Training towards improving pre- and in-service teacher training and strengthening the quality of teachers and said that "learning can only be maximized when it is facilitated by motivated and capable teachers".

In addition to the national event, a column entitled “Good teachers for 21st Century Learners” has been launched on the Journal of Education Science and Times Newspaper and open for national and international contributors.

The success of the national event is a result of close coordination among national and international actors in education sector. VVOB will promote more joint efforts throughout this year.
