VVOB Vietnam - the iPLAY project visited 4 provinces of Vietnam to observe and analyse how teachers in primary schools use Learning through Play. The project, implemented by Belgian organization VVOB in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) intends to contribute to the quality of education in Vietnam by introducing innovative ways for teachers to help their pupils to really understand what they learn, by playing

The objective of this descriptive study is to understand what teachers, primary school leaders, primary education officials, and Women Union staff at provincial level and at district level understand by ‘Learning through Play’ (LtP); thereby providing recommendations and designing appropriate project activities to meet the professional development needs of teachers and school leaders in order to apply quality LtP.

Observations took place in schools in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Da Nang and Quang Tri from June 8-25, 2020.

Play-based pedagogies are proven ways to help children gain a breadth of skills, foster critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving competencies that are crucial in today’s fast-changing world.

VVOB’s iPLAY project (‘Integrating Play-based Learning Activities among Young learners’) in collaboration with MOET helps to create an enabling environment that supports and sustains the use of play-based pedagogies in achieving improved learning for millions of primary school learners in Vietnam.
