On 24 and 25 May 2011, a follow-up workshop on the UNESCO Next Generation Curriculum Development workshop, which took place in 2010, was organized by VVOB in collaboration with Hanoi National University of Education (HNUE). The participants were the education programme coordinator of UNESCO Hanoi, the vice-principal and lecturers of HNUE and the managers and lecturers who were directly involved in developing the ICT curriculum for pre-service teachers in the five partner Teacher Training Institutes (TTIs) of VVOB.

The participants had the opportunity to discuss ICT competency standards with Dr Dao Thai Lai from the Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences (VNIES), and the ICT curricula of HNUE and Nghe An TTI. The discussions adressed various topics such as developing and selecting ICT modules, credits division, delivery pedagogy and, in particular, competency standards for pre-service teachers.

Most participants indicated that they understand more about ICT competency standards for teachers and pre-service teachers, the process of ICT curriculum development, the content of each module, and the adjustment of current ICT curriculum. All the participants highly appreciated the practical relevance of the presentations and the discussion sessions.
