TS. Trịnh Hoài Thu phát biểu tại buổi tập huấn.

Dr. Trinh Hoai Thu, Deputy Director of the Primary Education Department, Ministry of Education and Training, said: "Learning through play" is an open approach, aiming at students to have many opportunities to experience, explore, interact, and solve problems in a fun environment, from which students develop the necessary competencies and qualifications, contributing to the achievement of the goals set in the General Education Program (GEP) 2018.

The application of "Learning through play" methods and techniques in primary schools will contribute to motivating teachers to innovate teaching methods, towards student-centered learning and increased autonomy of students in the learning process. This is also the orientation to develop the capacity of teachers and administrators that the Ministry of Education and Training focuses on, ensuring the successful implementation of the GEP 2018."

Participating in the training course are national trainers with members from the Ministry of Education and Training, researchers from institutes, education universities, primary schools’ teachers, etc. The national trainers proactively discussed and shared with the group of facilitators from the IPLAY project (VVOB in Vietnam) the perspectives, principles, and characteristics of the Learning through Play approach; how to apply Learn through school play and integrate into professional training activities for teachers effectively.

During the 3 offline working days, national trainers had the opportunity to practice integrating "Learning through Play" into the lesson plan and to develop training programs for key project targets.

Mr. Koen Verrecht - IPLAY Project Education Advisor - VVOB in Vietnam - shared: “We hope that through this training, trainers will have a deeper understanding of Learning through play, method of application as well as the role of managers in creating an enabling environment for the application of Learning through play at schools. These trainers will be the people who "instill fire" for DOET and BOET staff, school leaders, and primary teachers, helping them to deeply understand and apply Learning through play in primary schools."

Các giảng viên thảo luận sôi nổi về cách xây dựng chương trình tập huấn cho cán bộ quản lý và Sở/Phòng Giáo dục – Đào tạo.

For the Learning through Play approach, the important principles are that children are given a good environment to be active in learning and encourage children's autonomy; Activities should be tied to learning goals and the classroom should be effectively managed. In the process, the teacher acts as a learning planner, observer, class administrator, and learner as well.

Through observing children in the class, teachers can find out suitable methods and activities to integrate Learning through play into subjects, helping children learn deeply and develop better skills.

This is the opening training course for a series of professional development activities on Learning through play for DOET, BOET staff, school leaders, and core primary teachers. According to the plan, by 2022, VVOB will cooperate with the Ministry of Education and Training to organize training in 8 project provinces.
