On the 1st December 2012, representatives from the DOETs, BOETs, Secondary Education Schools and WU of Quang Nam and Nghe An provinces met with VVOB for an introduction to the use and promotion of the online portal for Career Guidance for secondary school students: www.emchonnghegi.edu.vn. In addition, the participants were invited to give their feedback on a user guideline for the portal.
The objective of the online portal is to provide a starting point for students, but also for teachers and parents to the large amount of online information related to different aspects of career guidance. The portal links the end user to more than 60 screened weblinks related to 11 categories (e.g. training and education, job sites, self assessment, work market...).
To facilitate the use of the portal, a user guideline is being developed for teachers and parents. For students an attractive poster or flyer will be developed. The feedback from the workshop participants will be integrated in this promotion materials. All participants were satisfied with the outcome of the workshop, felt more interested in the portal and enthusiastic about promoting the use of the portal.
The day after this workshop key staff from DOETs and WU of the two provinces met with VVOB to discuss M&E of the program. It was agreed to develop draft M&E guidelines which will be discussed in a later stage. All participants want to join the M&E activities and would welcome capacity development in this area which they can broadly apply in their work. This capacity development will be taken up in 2013 and key staff of the DOET and WU will be closely involved in an internal assessment of the CG programme as well as an impact assessment at the level of the final beneficiaries.
