On 17-18 March 2011 VVOB organized a workshop on ICT for Active Teaching and Learning (ICT for ATL) in collaboration with the Hanoi National University of Education (HNUE). HNUE and VVOB worked together earlier in partnership with UNESCO Bangkok in the context of the Next Generation of Teachers project on development of a curriculum for pre-service teachers on integration of ICT in education. The ICT for ATL workshop was an ideal opportunity to introduce VVOBs approach on capacity development of educators on the use of ICT in teaching and learning. 25 lecturers from HNUE participated in the 2-day workshop.

During the workshop we introduced in 7 modules a range of technology enhanced instructional designs from our ICT for ALT toolkit. The participants were engaged in activities to experiment with the tools and to reflect on pedagogical aspects and added value of the tools for teaching and learning. At the end of the workshop all participants passed for the revision test. The workshop was highly appreciated by the participants. VVOB would like to thank all participants for their critical comments on the modules. A detailed report on the workshop (in Vietnamese) can be found in attachment.

We look forward to further collaboration between VVOB and HNUE on ICT and teaching methodology aspects. In May 2011 VVOB plans to organize a follow-up workshop on ICT curriculum development for our partner Teacher Training Institutes. We would like to consult with HNUE on lessons learned related to curriculum development. HNUE currently integrated aspects of ICT education in the curriculum for pre-service student teachers.
