On 6 January 2012 in Tam Ky, Quang Nam, the first activity of the brand new career guidance programme was organized. The programme aims to support students in making well-considered decisions on selecting suitable training options and career paths in north central Nghe An and south central Quang Nam provinces.

During the workshop on 6 January, the main partners in this programme, Departments of Education and Training (DOETs) and provincial Women’s Unions (WUs), decided to set up a portal website which will bundle quality screened existing online information related to available jobs, trends on the labor market, training options, aptitude testing etc.

Representatives from lower and upper secondary schools from the two provinces and the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA) of Quang Nam province also participated in the workshop. All involved stakeholders understand that ICTs can enhance and support career guidance, but ICT in general or an online portal for career guidance in particular can not replace the different stakeholders in career guidance (parents, teachers, counselors,...).

During the coming months, meaningful categories for grouping the links will be discussed, links will be collected and screened, a content management system (CMS) for the portal website will be set up and technical guidance to maintain the CMS will be developed.

The different stakeholders already agreed on a name for the portal website. This name will stay secret for the time being but will be announced soon on this website.
